What to Expect on the Day
Morning briefing. Your day begins around 8:00am at the Ntebeko Visitor Center with a safety and etiquette briefing from your guide.
Into the bamboo. Groups of up to eight trekkers, accompanied by an experienced park guide and an armed ranger, head into montane forest and bamboo zones in search of a habituated troop. Expect moderate hiking, occasional mud, and a real workout at altitudes between 2,200 and 4,500 meters.
The encounter. Once the troop is located, you’ll spend one hour (or up to four, with the habituation option) watching golden monkeys feed on bamboo shoots, groom one another, and chase through the branches overhead. Bring a camera with a fast shutter — these primates rarely sit still.
Back to base. The return hike typically brings the full outing to two to five hours, after which you’ll receive a certificate marking your trek.

- March–May & October–November (rainy seasons): Lush, vivid scenery and noticeably fewer visitors, though trails are muddier and the thicker bamboo growth can make spotting monkeys slightly harder.
