Masindi is a district located in western Uganda’s Bunyoro sub-region. It is bordered by Nwoya district in the north, Kiryandongo in the east, Kyankwanzi in the south, Nakasongola and Nakaseke in the southeast, Hoima in the southwest and Buliisa in the North West. Masindi has a total area cover of 9,326km2 with a variety of nearby tourist attractions including Lake Albert, Murchison falls national park; Uganda’s largest and oldest savannah national park to be gazetted, Budongo Forest Reserve, Bugungu Wildlife Reserve, Butiaba port, the Omukama’s palace of Bunyoro, Masindi hotel; one of the oldest hotels in Uganda built in 1923.
Getting there – It is approximately 220 km northwest of Kampala which is about 3-4 hours using the Hoima – Masindi road.
