The 9th edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) is set to take place from May 21 to 24, 2025, at the Speke Resort and Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala. This premier tourism and travel trade event, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities in partnership with the Uganda Tourism Board and other key agencies, aims to showcase Uganda’s rich and diverse tourism offerings under the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” The expo will bring together over 100 hosted international travel buyers, more than 5,000 trade visitors, and a wide range of exhibitors from across the globe, providing a unique platform for networking, investment, and collaboration.
POATE 2025 will feature various activities, including expert panel discussions, destination marketing presentations, and cultural showcases. A highlight of the opening ceremony is the innovative live musical production “Sounds of the Pearl,” which celebrates Uganda’s cultural heritage through music, dance, and storytelling. The event also emphasizes sustainable tourism practices and climate adaptation, aligning with global trends and Uganda’s vision for tourism growth.
Key speakers include prominent figures such as businessman Sudhir Ruparelia and representatives from the World Bank, focusing on investment opportunities and regional tourism partnerships. The expo also promotes the “Tell Your Story – Explore Uganda” campaign, encouraging Ugandans to share their unique tourism experiences to boost domestic tourism.
With a strong focus on sustainable transformation and innovation, POATE 2025 aims to position Uganda as a top global tourism destination, attracting investors, travel professionals, and media to explore the country’s untapped potential and vibrant tourism sector.
