14 Days Exploring Uganda’s Wild with Anthony Nuwahereza

Day 1: Entebbe to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Murchison Falls

Their adventure began at dawn with a 6 a.m. pickup from Entebbe. After a scenic 4-hour drive, Victor and Julie enjoyed their first encounter with Uganda’s wildlife during a 2-hour rhino tracking session at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Their excitement grew as they proceeded to Murchison Falls National Park, culminating in a relaxing moment at the top of the spectacular falls, where the roar of cascading water provided a majestic soundtrack. The day ended with a cozy overnight stay at Bwana Tembo Safari Camp.

Day 2: Murchison Falls – Game Drives and Boat Cruise


The second day was filled with thrilling wildlife spotting during a 5-hour morning game drive through the park’s rugged terrain. In the afternoon, they embarked on a tranquil 3-hour boat cruise along the Nile, drifting to the bottom of the falls while spotting hippos, crocodiles, and a myriad of bird species. Evenings were spent dining under the stars back at the lodge.

Day 3: Journey to Kibale Forest with Cultural Stops

Leaving Murchison Falls behind, the group traveled six hours south to the lush Kibale Forest. En route, they visited bustling local markets in Hoima and Fort Portal, getting a taste of Ugandan everyday life. They settled into Isunga Lodge, surrounded by the verdant beauty of the forest, ready for more adventures.

Day 4: Community Engagement and Chimpanzee Tracking

Victor and Julie’s cultural journey continued with a morning community tour featuring traditional basket weaving, coffee ceremonies, and the tasting of banana beer. Later, they explored Bigodi Swamp for birdwatching before heading to Kanyanchu Center for an exhilarating afternoon chimpanzee tracking session. The day closed with warm hospitality back at the lodge.

Day 5: To Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Crater Lakes


Traveling via scenic crater lakes, the safari reached Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here, a memorable 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel unveiled a spectacular show of hippos, elephants, and crocodiles. Following this, they checked into Pumba Lodge, nestled in the wild, for a restful evening.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive in Queen Elizabeth

The morning was dedicated to a comprehensive 6-hour game drive, where Anthony’s keen eyes helped them spot elephants, buffalo, Uganda kob, and elusive leopards. The afternoon offered well-deserved leisure time at the lodge.

Day 7: Ishasha’s Tree-Climbing Lions

Heading towards the renowned Ishasha sector, their afternoon game drive was rewarded with sightings of the famous tree-climbing lions, a rare and captivating spectacle. This experience underscored the unique wildlife diversity of Uganda.

Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Batwa Cultural Experience

The journey continued to the mystical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to endangered mountain gorillas. Along the way, they connected with the Batwa community in Ruhija, gaining insights into indigenous culture and visiting a local orphanage. They arrived at Lake Mutanda Resort in Kisoro for a peaceful night.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking – A Lifetime Experience


Day nine was the highlight of the safari — a 6-hour trek through dense forest to spend an intimate hour with a gorilla family. The encounter was profound, leaving Victor and Julie deeply moved by the gentle giants of Bwindi.

Day 10 & 11: Relaxation & Exploration at Lake Bunyonyi


After the intensity of gorilla trekking, the pair traveled two and a half hours to Lake Bunyonyi, a stunning crater lake surrounded by terraced hills. At Bird’s Nest Lodge, they enjoyed a boat cruise to Bushara Island with a hike through its scenic trails, followed by a restful full day soaking in the natural beauty.

Day 12: Rolling Hills of Nyole in Mbarara

The safari moved on to Mbarara’s Nyole Hillside Retreat, where a gentle hike through sweeping hills and quaint villages offered rich cultural exchanges and spectacular vistas. The serene environment was perfect for reflection and appreciation of Uganda’s rural charm.

Day 13: Walking Safari in Lake Mburo National Park

Next was Lake Mburo National Park, where they stayed at Hyena Hill Lodge. The afternoon featured an immersive 3-hour guided walking safari, offering a close-up exploration of wildlife and the park’s fascinating flora.

Day 14: Return to Entebbe – Equator Crossing and White Sand Beaches


Their final day included a visit to the Equator line for fun photo opportunities, followed by relaxation on the pristine white sand beaches of Entebbe before transfer to the airport.
